Mardi Gras festivities are in full swing now. I've sat it out for the last few years but I'm definately catching up this year! I have walked for miles and miles, jumped with arms out-stretched for beads and baubles and been to places I never knew existed this year. And there are still 3 days of revelry left.
Last week I was scouring the French Quarter for a costume with some friends when we came across the amazing house above. The pic doesn't do justice for this wonder of a house decorated as a Zulu float. Sorry I don't know the address but it's near The Mint a couple of blocks off Decatur. Click the pic to enlarge and you'll see a person peering out from the mouth. You can see my other Mardi Gras pix here.
Today I'm resting up. -Although I was supposed to go to Bacchus tonight with friends, I've decided to bow out and save my strength for Orpheus tomorrow night. Plus, I still need to find a dress for my costume so I'll be hitting second-hand shops today.
It's such a magical time in the city right now and I wish everyone could experience the joie d'vivre of Mardi Gras with us! But if you aren't here, you can watch the parades on WDSU.com.
