TAG, I'M IT

My blogger friend Barbara has tagged me. I am compelled to share 8 things about myself that you (the reader) don't know and tag 6 other bloggers to do the same. So here goes.

1. I'd give my eye teeth to be artistically talented a la Jackson Pollock.

2. I love thunderstorms, especially during the day - I like to sit on the porch and feel the fury.

3. I still have my JRR Tolkien and Carlos Castaneda books that I read in high school.

4. I cannot parallel park. And I will not try.

5. I have an irrational fear of locusts (cicadas) (A story I may tell at some future time.)

6. I'm a sucker for abandoned animals. My latest rescue is a tortoiseshell cat who showed up on my front porch obviously starving. I named her Scarlett because she'll never be hungry again.

7. I have a thing for words and language useage.

Words that sound like what they are: plop, fizzle, crackle, histrionics, puke;
words that feel good rolling off the tongue: Diecedue, Bourgeois, embellish, plush;
and colloquialisms, such as in Louisiana: mosquito hawk (dragonfly), hose pipe (garden hose), boudet' (pout), lagniappe (something extra), makin' groceries (grocery shopping), where ya'at? (how are you?), yeah, you rite (agrees with you);
Or in Mississippi: Bless 'er heart (usually said when someone does something "ignorant"), I reckon so (yes), fixin' (I'm fixin' to go to town.), I called myself...(As in "I called myself looking for it".)

I have contempt for news people who misuse phrases/words, such as saying "irregardless" or "at the present time" - they should know better.

8. I dislike SUV's -- they're asthetically displeasing, I cannot see ahead when behind one, and they are gas guzzlers. I have no sympathy for anyone complaining about the price of gas if said person drives an SUV. I have hope they are a fad that will fade away in time. *No emails on this please* I have friends and family who drive them but my opinion stays the same.
Oh, and a Hummer would only intimidate me if driven in a war zone by a bad-ass military man. You, in the suit and tie and/or stiletto heels living in the McMansion, make me chuckle.
